Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Chicago, IL

Lost/stole high-end mattress, overcharged, late delivery

This company was subcontracted by my daughter-in-law's primary movers, Allegiance Van Lines, to move her furniture and boxes from LA to Chicago. Not only did the furniture arrive more than 10 days late, they also lost her new $2,800 Casper Wave mattress, and have refused to replace it or reimburse her. And they overcharged her on weight and volume by at least 25 percent--50 percent if you count the mattress that never arrived. The most ironic thing is the name: Best Moving Van Lines. They should rename it: Worst Moving Van Lines.

WoRsT Moving Van Line.

BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE!They care nothing about your items arriving to its destination in they same condition they were sent.  My items weren't just damaged, they were demolished.  I paid $2,300 for a cross country move and I fully regret using this company.  A picture is worth a thousand words.  You judge for yourself.
My items were not just cracked on a corner, but they were completely demolished.  If you look at the lamps the post was completely broken along with the base.
My mirror frame was completely broken.  How does this happen, except you are throwing things in a truck as if it were trash.

Excellent crew on 2/28/16.

We have a 5 bdrm home with lots of moving to do, my 4 movers, Jaime's crew, was the most amazing, good hearted, positive and the most hard working crew I was blessed to have help us. They are so efficient and with the amount of stuff we had, they managed to get things done and we were amazed and in awe of how great of service they provided. Thank you, Jaime, for your dedication and impeccable work ethics. God Bless you all.

Long-distance move from Santa Clara, CA to Austin, TX

Lost my Bose speaker bar.

THIEVES, this word may sound harsh, but I believe they stole my Bose speaker bar. I used Best Moving Van Line to move from CA to TX, they took 4 weeks to move my stuff. When my stuff arrived, most of my furniture had dents and damages. But this is not the biggest of my worries, they had lost my BOSE SPEAKER BAR. There were 62 items/packages in my shipment, I received all the 61 items, except for my Bose speaker !!. I had used the original Bose box to pack it, so for anyone who's handling it, it was very clearly visible that it's a Bose speaker. So I can't think of any other reason for only this item to be lost/misplaced.

Its not the question of money, instead its the issue of integrity. When we give our stuff to move, we believe in them, we have our faith in them. When moving 1700 Miles, I understand that there are some chances of having a minor damage to furniture. But missing/stealing a valuable item ?

Attached the remarks from the inventory paper, signed by their own delivery person.

Long-distance move from Sacramento, CA to Colorado Springs, CO

Terrible experience

The only thing this company did right was to show up on the correct day. I should back up and say that I did not hire this company directly. My contract was with International Van Lines; IVL has a number one rating from Forbes magazine. Therefore, I did not intentionally choose BMVL and due to their F rating by the Better Business Bureau, I never would have chosen them. (I did not realize that I was dealing with a broker-that they would not be moving me directly.) They only used paper, NO bubblewrap for my “all-pack”. Therefore, I sustained a large amount of breakage. It would also seem as though they dropped my computer tower and other pieces of furniture based on the amount of damage. In addition, many items went “missing“ such as my daughter’s IKEA desktop, and an oil painting approximately 3‘ x 4‘. BMVL has been unresponsive and both IVL & BMVL have refused arbitration. My next step is to pursue small claims court. I deeply regret not purchasing replacement insurance. (My quote had already increased to $14,000 and I didn’t feel I could afford the replacement insurance of $1400 more.) I have filed a formal complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. BMVL’s customer service is useless. They will tell you that they will get back to you but they never do. In addition, a piece of glass was delivered to me that is not mine. They never would tell me what to do with it. I hate to throw it away because it is a custom cut piece. Lastly, BMVL subcontracted with a third moving company called Arena Van Lines located in New Jersey to perform the delivery. They also have an F rating. That was also a terrible experience. Interestingly, when I reached out to AVL, they have no record of me! Lessons learned:

#1: get an in person quote. (IVL lowballed me at first because they “didn’t understand” that I had a room full of packed by owner boxes and then raised the price $4000 more 3 days before pick up.) (The companies that did come out never got back to me with a price quote.) Lesson 2: Buy replacement insurance. Lesson 3: Make sure the company that I am paying will be doing the move and not subcontracting with a third-party company.

Long-distance move from Maryland to Kentucky

Dishonest company.

I paid $920 to move an item of furniture from VA to KY. I was told via phone and e-mail that the item would arrive within a week of pickup. Access to sales persons and prompt replies were the rule prior to pickup. After pickup, access to information was minimal. I was told at least 10 different delivery dates over the next 8 weeks. Ultimately, it took over 2 months to get the item even though the contract states it would be delivered within 30 days. My complaint is with the total dishonesty of the company. You cannot gain access to a higher level person, you cannot obtain honest answers, and often you cannot gain access to anyone in customer service.

Worst experience ever!!

WARNING!!WARNING!!STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.
I would stay as far away from these guys as you can. They damaged so much of our things. Unbelievable that they could be that bad but they are. Mattresses had water damaged, new washer and dryer almost unusable due to damage from being dropped and having heavy items stored on them. Every single box that had been labelled "Fragile" looked like they had been kicked down the street. It was as if they thought the word "Fragile" meant play soccer with the box.
I couldn't get information on where my items were or when I would get them. I had to threaten them with speaking to a lawyer just to get a response. Nice guy who does your quote and then it all goes downhill from there.
Please, please use someone else but not these guys or Lidor Van Lines or Gold Coast Movers (http://www.goldcoastmo..). Lidor are Gold Coast Movers and they are terrible. They have named their name as close to the reputable company Gold Coast Moving to trick you into using them.
Use someone else!!

Do Not Use This Company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

I too was unsatisfied with Best Moving Van Lines. In fact I created this account to warn others about the overcharging and appalling management. I too was under quoted and charged for materials that were stated free on the website and free quote.

I agree with the previous complaint, the movers themselves were unprofessional and left cigarette butts throughout the property. I was charged a large amount to move two mirrors and two lamps. Of which arrived broken! I did not state my items were stolen, but many were missing. When you allow strangers into your home, you expect them to be courteous and clean. But they were not!

I would like to note, the company does not state on their free quotes, but they charge $175 for storage.

The company does not follow standard procedure. I requested an original weight of the truck and was not given it until three days after the pickup of my home goods. I have no proof of the original weight because I was not allowed to be present.

Also upon delivery many of my items were missing and damaged. The movers held my items hostage until I would pay them cash or a postal order in the mover's name, not the company's. This is not a professional business if they do not accept payments in the company's name.

I requested a reweigh and found out I was over charged a couple hundred of dollars. The rude managers, Tony and Ben, kept insisting the check was in the mail. It has been three months since my first complaint. I filed a complaint with the DOT and when I requested my reimbursement, was told by Ben.

Moving Company.

HORRIBLE!! Do not use this company. I went with this company because they offered the best price. They actually were the best price by a lot,..but they have been an absolute nightmare. I run 5 businesses and I don't know how this company is even in business after all the problems I have had. First off, they offered me a great price, which later, the salesperson (Joseph) said that he made a mistake and they refuse to work it out. Since I didn't know how much everything weighed, they offered me a price of $.39 a pound and an estimate of 7000 pounds. Joseph assured me that if the weight was lower, they would only charge me for the actual weight. The foreman told me he thought we had 5000-6000 pounds but they never did weigh the truck so they just charged me the full 7000 pounds.

I called several times a week for 2 months to try and get back the overcharge and the supervisors and managers DO NOT communicate and they took my money and hoped I would stop calling. I have received one call back from a manager in the last 2 months. That was just the beginning of the nightmare. We were then told to be ready to receive the delivery on a saturday between 9am -noon. They confirmed the night before and then no truck and no call. We tried calling the truck driver and no response all day. Best Movers said they couldn't get a hold of the driver either. The next day Best Movers said that the truck broke down and would be there in the next few days. We then got a hold of the driver who said that he was told not to make the delivery because his company did not receive enough money from best movers - so now my belongings was the collateral for two a trucking dispute.

A few days later the truck arrived and the driver said that his truck never broke down and that he was sick so needed a few days off. All I was looking for was communication and I never got it. You can call 5 times a day and they wont tell you the truth. After unpacking we noticed that we had an extra bedframe..I called the company to let them know and they don't care that someone else is missing their bedframe. I let them know that I am missing a box with a laptop, chairs and shelves and they still do not respond. I am so frustrated with this company. At one point, I said that I was so upset that our truckload of stuff is missing and that there was no update on where it was, that I said I would express my frustrations by writing a review of how bad the experience was and Sara, the customer service rep said, " go ahead and write about your experience, I don't care." This response shows how they do business. I have asked repeatedly to speak with the owner of the company and they say that they will inform him of my situation..

I hope he does call me someday..I'm still waiting on my laptop, and the other missing items. I will continue to call several times a week until something happens. After 2 months, a supervisor decided yesterday that I should receive 50% of what was overcharged. I still have to dispute the balance. Choose another moving company..even if this company was half the price of any other company, I would not use them. Go with a reputable company who cares about your things. I made a HUGE mistake by using this company and I don't know if I will ever see my missing stuff again.

They quote you one thing, and Charge you another!!

I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT!! They rip me off royally!! They gave me a quote for $1152 and after they packed my items into their truck, they wrote out a new price for $2500 dollars. They used the excuse it was the packing cost. At the end of the day, you pay for what you get.. Please review there BBB Rating and other complaints online. Use U-Haul or a company that has better rating. I regret using this company and should have went with my gut feelings that it was too good to be true when they gave me that quote.
